The Crown (7th) Chakra or Sahasrara is located at the top of the head and skull. It is associated with the color violet. It's at the top of all of the chakras, which starts from the root chakra that grounds us on the Earth and progresses upward to the Crown which connects us with the universe and the Divine source of creation. The Crown chakra is associated with your sense of enlightenment and remembrance that you are a small part of a greater whole. This chakra is also related to your sense of place in the universe.
Physical imbalances include depression, headaches, inability to learn, sensitivity to light, sound and your environment.
Emotional imbalances include the inability to concentrate or focus on the issue at hand, seemingly constant drama in your life, inability to see beyond your own small corner of the world and an inability to take on other's perspectives or practice empathy. Imbalances arise from rigid thoughts on religion and spirituality, constant confusion, and carrying prejudices. You have a fear of alienation.
When this chakra is balanced, we live in the present moment. We have an unshakeable trust in our inner guidance. When we realize that everything is interconnected and that we are part of the larger scheme of life, we begin to live with gratitude, faith and trust, rather than filled with fear and anxiety. We are guided by the higher power and we feel divinity from within and from without.
The challenge of this chakra is to liberate the spirit and at the same time stay firmly rooted deep in the ground.
